You'll probably want to stock up on some groceries before heading to your vacation rental home on Captiva Island or Sanibel Island. There is limited shopping on Captiva in particular but there are some local shops to get groceries.

On route to your vacation rental on Captiva Island or Sanibel Island you will pass 2 Publix shops. Publix will have more wide range selection of groceries plus deli and bakery than the island stores. They make amazing birthday cakes in case you are celebrating.
On Sanibel Island there are 2 grocery stores that you can either shop in or have them deliver groceries to the vacation rental house if you order in advance. There is a fee for delivery and “put away” service. The prices and selection are better for groceries than the deli's on Captiva.

This is on Sanibel Island just before the Captiva bridge at 6406 Sanibel Captiva Rd. They have a good selection of groceries if you run out during the week or didn't have time to stop on your way to the vacation rental on Captiva.
If you don't have time to stop on your way to your vacation rental on Captiva or if you run out of items and don't want to head back to Sanibel Island or Fort Myers there are a couple of groceries options. You can go to Santiva General Store or one of the following.

On the corner of Captiva Drive and Andy Rosse Lane this little store is a historical landmark on Captiva Island and was once a Boys school. They have a good selection of groceries and other items. It isn't near Sanibel Island but would be a good option if you go to Captiva Island for the day and want to pick up a snack.
Located on South Seas Resort near their marina. You can purchase groceries and other items at the Ship's Store even if you are not a registered guest at the resort and have a private vacation rental.
If you are renting on Sanibel Island or Captiva Island and plan to go on a Captiva Cruise you would also have access to the Ship's Store since they use the South Seas Marina for many cruises.
